| Color is Yummy! |
Frustrated, I abandoned my blogging and over the past two years I rebuilt my artist studio and have been concentrating on fiber and fine art paintings, jewelry and children's soft toys. What I found during those two years, was a single thread that had been missing in my blogs:
THE COLOR OF IMAGINATION
Color; a multi-faceted word. A word that brings to the mind of an artist and crafts-person, so many different meanings:- The color of taste
- The color of smell
- The color of touch
- The color of sound
- The color of seeing
- The color of imagination
Writing, along with artistry and craft-work needs to be uplifted with sensory images. Images that are not just photographs, but written images and art that you feel and sense. Art and story that you smell and taste. Art and writing that registers and then explodes into that next up dimension that we call psyche. Art, writing, and craft that excites the chemical and electrical neuron centers in our brains.
THE COLOR OF A CUPCAKE
I posted a photo of a lemon cupcake. It's not art, it's food, and not even very healthy food. But look at that color. Even in the picture you can imagine the smell of the lemon cake, feel the smooth icing on your lips and taste the sweet buttercream on your tongue. You can imagine the feel of the cupcake paper as you pull it off the little cake and in your mind, be embarassed by the texture of the crumbs as they miss your mouth and get all over your blouse. The shapes and the swirls of dancing sprinkles and brightly colored icing dazzles your eyes. When I made these cupcakes, they were a mistake. I wanted to created something controlled as to where the color went and how professional it looked for the party they were destined for. But, what I ended up with was so very much more. I was embarrassed to put them out and apologized to the hostess. However, she was amazed by them and I then allowed myself to hear the ooohs and ahhhhs from the guests. I had achieved lift-off.
What I had achieved in that one group of cupcakes, even in just one of them, was what most artists work for all their lives. That piece or art, that novel, that carved statue, that creation that explodes in color.
THE NEW YEAR - 2018
In blogging, consistency of posting is key and I hope to have several posts each week along with updates and photos of the projects I am working on. I set up a new website for my studio and have two storefronts that list the items I have for sale. Plus this next year looks to have collaboration with several idea people. Always a plus to invigorate a business.
But today, it's January 2, 2018 and that brings thoughts of new beginnings, new ideas and new goals. New ways to work that color thread into my life and yours. Lots to design and lots to make. Information to pass on and tutorials to set up. New products, new artwork and new ways to weave color - because Color is Yummy!

It is my hope, through my work, my writing, my designs, my art kits and training videos; to ignite a spark that produces fireworks in your own projects.
